Cardio-respiratory monitoring is a method for diagnosing breathing disorders during sleep.

The cardio-respiratory (respiratory) monitoring system records such indicators as oxygen saturation of arterial blood, pulse, airflow, snoring throughout the night. This method makes it possible to detect breathing disorders during sleep with sufficiently high accuracy (register apnea, hypopnea), and, thanks to a special pulse wave analysis system, distinguish obstructive and central apnea/hypopnea, and determine cardiovascular risk.

This diagnostic method resembles polysomnography but is inferior to it in terms of the number of recorded indicators. In this regard, on the one hand, it does not allow diagnosing many sleep disorders, but, on the other hand, due to its compactness and ease of registration, it can be successfully used to diagnose breathing disorders during sleep, and monitor the effectiveness of therapy.

DMC clinic uses the “SomnoCheck micro” cardio-respiratory monitoring system (Loewenstein Medical/Weinmann, Germany).
