Education

Dr. Maksudova graduated from the pediatric department of the Central Asian Medical Pediatric Institute, majoring as a pediatrician in 1976.

In 1980 she passed the primary specialization in “ophthalmology” on the basis of the Tashkent Institute for Advanced Medical Education.

In 1985 she qualified as a specialist in “eye microsurgery” at the Republican Center for Eye Microsurgery in Kiev, Ukraine.

In 1990 she attended a”Implantation of intraocular lenses” course at MNTK “Eye microsurgery” department in Moscow. Then, every succeeding year she went to MNTK for further training.

In 2008 Dr. Maksudova completed training on refractive surgery in Ufa, Russia.

In 2009 Dr. Maksudova was trained in Austria, Vienna: “Operative treatment of keratoconus with insertion of intracorneal rings”, and introduced this method of treatment for the first time to Uzbekistan.

Professional activity

Between 1977 – 1981 she worked as head of the children’s department in the City Clinical Hospital of the Ambulance assistance in Tashkent city.

From 1981 to 1985, she worked as a doctor as an ophthalmologist in the Department of Emergency Ophthalmology and Eye Trauma of the State Committee of the City of Tashkent.

From 1985 to 2016, she was in charge of the Department of Emergency Ophthalmology and Eye Trauma of the State Committee of the City of Tashkent.

From 1983 to 2016 she was Chief Ophthalmologist of the city of Tashkent

Since 2008, until 2018, she has been Director of the clinic of the JV LAZEROPTICA Ltd,

Since March 2018, she has been director of the multidisciplinary clinic DMC.

Scientific activity:

In April 2007 she defended her thesis for the degree of candidate of medical sciences on the topic: “Clinico-functional evaluation of the effectiveness of the complex treatment of partial optic nerve atrophy.”

For the first time in Uzbekistan, the method of intensive therapy of eye fundus diseases using retrobulbar catheterization was introduced by her.

MaksudovaZulfiyaRuzmetovna, is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), a member of the Turkish-speaking Ophthalmological Society (TCOD), a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS), and a member of the European Society of Retinal Surgeons (EURETINA).

From 2006-2013 she led scientific and pedagogical activity as an assistant professor at the Department of Eye Diseases of the Tashkent Medical Academy.

She has published more than 50 printed scientific works, 2 rationalization proposals and is credited with 3 inventions. To this day she conducts research and development activities. Every year she attends many ophthalmologic conferences and congresses, where she participates with her own presentations

She is one of the founders of the school of ophthalmic traumatologists and refractive surgeons in Uzbekistan. Over the course of its many years of activity, it has trained more than 100 young specialists who, to date, are successfully working and continue to develop the field of ophthalmology in all regions of our large Republic, as well as beyond its borders.
